I am trying to connect a steel column to a pad footing with a 1047 base plate , but as you can see in picture I am not getting the desired result (right part of picture) . I want the left part of picture to happen. How can I achieve this ?

You can use Ctl+1 to 5 to change the representation of objects and Shift+1 to 5 for Components.
Still I cant see weld or the reinforcement like in the left part of picture , I tried ctrl 1 to 5 and shift 1 to 5 it.
The Ctl+ suppose to work. But you can also use Object Representation to just like the picture on the left. You can choose any options to filter the objects by their properties or attributes or phase etc..
See attached thumbnails.
thank you for your help, but I am still facing problems, and can you provide more details and also I was not able to take help of the attached picture it pixelated on the zooming. Thank you for your time.

Try to check your display first. Take note of the checked boxes. Then try Ctl+ of Shift+ after modifying. It's working perfectly to me.
