Model view auto extend
23.07.2014 03:49

Does anyone know how to stop the model view depths from auto-extending when you move something outside the current depths?
Eg; When in plan view, depth up 500, depth down 500. If you move a column at ground level plan, and that column extends up to roof level, then the view auto extends from 500 up, 500 down...to 3500 up, 500 down (just an example).
Very frustrating. I never had this problem before, but since I re-installed on my new machine I am having this problem.
I'm sure that there is a setting...maybe in advanced options which will stop this happening, just can't find it :-)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,

Hello,
If I understand the problem correctly. You need to change the value of a variable
XS_CHANGE_WORKAREA_WHEN_MODIFYING_VIEW_DEPTH

Hi Andrei,
Re: Or when you move the detail 24.07.2014 02:49

Hi Andrei,
Thanks for your response.
I have the variable set to FALSE already. I still have the problem.
The dialogue box you have shown is the exact problem I have. The view depth and work area is automatically expanding. I want to stop this happening.
The dialogue box does not come up anymore...I assume at some stage I have told it to expand and I have ticked the 'Do not show this message again' box.
How do I stop this from happening?

Hi Darren,

Hi Darren,
To re-display the warning messages, press Shift when the warning message should appear, for example when you are copying or moving objects outside the work area, and Tekla Structures displays the warning message again.
And I think you should return the value TRUE variable. It is nothing to do with.
Best regards,
Andrei

Thanks Andrei, that fixed the problem...great help!
I also have another query. I am operating a single licence on a desktop computer. The licence server is installed locally on the machine. How do I transfer the licence to my laptop so I can travel while using Tekla?
I have tried looking in the help files but have not come up with any answers...

Hi,
Use License Borrow Tool. You will be able to borrow a license on you specified time. Or copy the key file on a laptop and when you need use TS on laptop, deactivate the license from your computer and activate it on the laptop.
