The account you have created for this service, Tekla Campus, gives you the possibility to download Tekla Structures Learning for educational purposes and to participate the discussions on the forum of this online service. Accessing the Tekla Extranet, including the Extensions section, requires that your company has a maintenance agreement with Tekla.

If your company doesn't yet have a maintenance agreement, you can contact our sales using this web form.

Educational institutes, who have educational licenses to Tekla Structures, are also eligible to access the Tekla Extranet. Please contact your educational institute for more information.

Re: What is engineering configuration ? 14.02.2014 14:36

There is currently one extension available for Tekla Structures Learning users, the 3Dconnexion Device Installer. This extension is available in the Download section of the Tekla Campus web site.

Other extensions, which are available for the users of the commercial Tekla Structures, have not been packaged for or tested to be working with Tekla Structures Learning, which is limited to be used for non-productive, educational use only. If you are a user of the commercial version Tekla Structures and you have a valid maintenance agreement, please visit the Tekla Extranet Discussion Forum for support on extensions.

3DConnexion Spacemouse Wireless
Re: There is currently one 04.03.2016 04:43

I recently bought a 3DConnection Spacemouse and can't seem to get it to work within the Tekla Structures Learning software. I downloaded the extension from the download section and installed it, yet still no go.

Is there any specific method in getting my device to work?

I'm running the Learning package under Windows 10 if that makes any difference.

Sorry to hear you have experienced problems with 3DConnextion extension.
Do you see an error message of any kind? If so, what does the error message say? The more information we have, the better we can help you.

Re: Sorry to hear you have 13.03.2016 02:22

Hi and thanks for getting back to me on this.

I'm not getting any error messages at all when I'm using Tekla Structures with the 3DConnexion extension and didn't get any message when I was installing. All I'm able to do with the SpaceMouse within Tekla is zoom in & out, all other functionality isn't working. I've been into the 3DConnexion properties dialogue while running TS and noticed that the only function ticked is zoom (see screen capture below). When I try to tick all the other functions the SpaceMouse no longer responds... and if I reset the defaults the zoom works again. Everything is working fine and dandy in all other programs, just not the one I want it to :-(

I've also taken a screen shot of the DirectInput.cfg file just in case it could help narrowing things down....

Hi Rodsy,
Re: Thank you! I will have our 22.04.2016 14:40

Hi Rodsy,

One of our experts did some testing regarding the Tekla Structures Learning (version 21.1) and the “SpaceMouse Wireless” device from 3DConnexion.

He used followed these steps (which also are mentioned in the installation guide):

  1. Connect the 3D mouse to your computer's USB port. Windows automatically recognizes the mouse when you plug it in. (Please make sure that the driver installed properly)
  2. Install the configuration file for the 3D mouse.
  3. Start Tekla Structures Learning (v. 21.1) and open a model.
  4. Run the 3DConnexionInstaller_211.exe file. In the installer dialog box, select the “SpaceMouse Wireless” option and click Install.
  5. After this, he located the DirectInput.cfg file in the Windows user profile and checked that it contained the default button mapping.

He made a few changes to the file and the modified rows were after the changes looking like this:

He re-started Tekla Structures Learning and opened the same test model again. He was able to use the SpaceMouse Wireless device to zoom, pan, etc. and both buttons worked as defined.

This was successfully tested on both Windows 7, 64-bit and Windows 10, 64-bit.

He also made some other changes to the buttons just to be able to make sure that the configuration changed. After re-starting Tekla Structures Learning, the changed configuration was always taken into use.

Note, that he did not change any of the device settings anywhere else in those Windows versions. He did not have any other software installed where the mouse could have been used.

Please also note that he did test this in Tekla Structures 2016 on Windows 10, 64-bit, and the SpaceMouse Wireless works there as well. The only thing he had to do was to manually copy the DirectInput.cfg file to the corresponding folder on the computer.

At the point when Windows 7
Re: Hi Rodsy, 11.05.2018 10:27

At the point when Windows 7 has been discharged a long time and had a lot of positive criticisms. At the point when the principal variant of x64 processor presented, this inquiry has just been raised commonly. Both Intel and AMD clients was chances over the principal Athon 64 chip and it may be a reason bouncing to 64-bit working framework has been happened gradually. Both equipment and programming designers were not by any means in to 64-bit and made numerous perfect issues for end-clients. Right when Windows 7 discharged, nearly everybody is on a similar position about the change. On the off chance that your old sound card, video card still can't seem to get 64-bit perfect drivers previously, the bizarre things are they won't get any. The retail forms of Windows 7 incorporates both 32-bit and 64-bit DVD on the off chance that you don't know to make the hop to the 64-bit variant of the Operating System. One of the enormous contrasts between 64-bit and 32-bit engineering is about RAM (Random Access Memory). With 32-bit framework, you can't have RAM for more than 4GB. With the estimating pattern is going down for RAM, a large portion of individuals can undoubtedly get more than 4GB without stress excessively over their pocket.
Thanks& Regards,

Re: I've also taken a screen shot 30.06.2016 14:31

FYI. Now there is a new version of 3DConnexion device installer extension available at http://campus.tekla.com/download!

New version is compatible Tekla Structures 2016 and Windows 10, Windows 8, and Windows 7.

Note that 3Dconnexion device installer does not work side by side with Tekla Structures. 3Dconnexion device driver must be disabled / uninstalled to obtain device identification & support by Tekla Structures.

3Dconnexion new extension for educational license
Re: FYI; Now there is new version 08.04.2020 20:29

Dear Admin,
I noticed that the new 2020 version has a new extension for the 3Dconnexion mouses that REQUIRES the mouse's original driver to be installed, making it work like it should.
I just installed the 2020 version and started it up using my educational license, and noticed, that the new extension isn't available on Tekla Campus, only through Tekla Warehouse, and requires Tekla Maintenance to be accessed.
Could you please make a version of that extension that is accessible without the need of Tekla Maintenance, aka. using an educational license?
It would be wonderful to finally be able to use my 3D mouse like I can in other software.
Best regards,
